So I've only ever seen a few Bond films. Those being the most recent Daniel Craig ones and I think Noomraker, the one with the dude what done has a metal jaw. So tonight the wife and I watched The MAn with the Golden Gun and I have to say, this stuff is utter BS. I though the Bond films were all great amazing things because I often hear about how much people loved them and wanted to BE bond. But this thing. This thing right here felt like a bad attempt to imitate an Austin Powers movie! There were jokes and bad punch lines and scenes that just felt like they were shoe-horned in. Is this maybe one of those 'bad' films in a series? Like Godzilla vs Hedorah that damn near killed the franchise?

I mean, sure I get it. This dude is basically hawkeye with a gun. Great! I can accept that but if he is so great and observant and able to do damn near anything, how did he not see that the 'bond' statue was in the wrong spot and had all of its fingers again? I mean double u tee eff, guy. What are you doing?

Also, the whole storing solar energy thing. What the hell? Thats not how solar power works! Thats not how any of htis works! Why would the vats of super conducting coils be left open? What? Why? And how are super conducting coils STORING energy? And why do you keep storing it? What for??? Your power usage has got to be pretty small so unless you are firing that bloody 'golden gun' laser bean thing, then you don't need all that. You cant sell it! Can put a bit in your pocket and have a pocket fulla sunshine. And the bond girl, Miss Goodnight! How was she an agent but then so completely inept at turning off a console by pressing a button! And why was bond yelling things that he himself shouldn't have known, he isn't Scotty for fucks sake.

I like Roger Moore's cheeky take on bond. The bad jokes just tickle me. But yes, it is a bad movie. That's what makes it so good.

Personally, I always felt that Live and Let Die was Roger Moore's best Bond movie. But Man with the Golden Gun had Christofer Lee and Tattoo...what's not to like?

Christopher Lee was the best part of Man with the Golden Gun and he was wasted in it.

As a huge Bond fan that owns every single movie, Roger Moore is the worst of the lot. There was always some cheese, especially in the early ones, but he is just terrible (as are his movies in general). Plus as the years go on he becomes Geriatric Bond and things go downhill even more. His is the hyper-ridiculous era of Bond.

Connery is the classic. Go catch some of his for some oldschool swagger and blatant sexism.

Lazenby was actually pretty good and On Her Majesty's Secret Service is underrated.

Timothy Dalton is one of my favorites and also criminally underrated. The Living Daylights is still one of my favorites in the franchise. He tried to bring in some more gravity and was really kind of the proto-Craig but the fanbase wasn't ready for it.

Brosnan was pretty good and pretty damned solid for a 90s Bond. Goldeneye is one of the best. I also really like Tomorrow Never Dies and I'm pretty sure some contemporary moguls have taken notes on media manipulation from that flick. The World is Not Enough is half decent and half ridiculous (see: Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist). Die Another Day was pretty crap but to this day I still want an Aston Martin Vanquish.

Q's Assistant: "What side do you dress on?"
Evelyn Tremble (Bond): "Away from the window."

I have every Bond movie ever made and love the series. I too found Roger Moore's version to be too much of a cartoon caricature. Having said that, 'For Your Eyes Only' is one of my favorites.

For my 6th birthday my dad took me to a Stater Brothers store to see Bond's Aston Martin DB5 in person (Goldfinger promo). I got to sit in the cockpit and mess with all the buttons, including raise the rear bullet shield. Coolest thing I ever did as a kid.

'From Russia with Love" came out the year before, so I got a James Bond Secret Agent briefcase for that Christmas. It even used rolls of caps for the exploding lock mechanisms that kicked off Sean Connery's and Robert Shaw's Orient Express fight scene.

Ya ... I'm a Bond nerd and not ashamed to admit that I've been so for 55 years. I think Connery's Bond was the best, but Daniel Craig's character was the truest to Ian Fleminmg's Bond imho.

Yes the oft overlooked David Niven Bond. I actually enjoyed Casino Royale...

Yeah and the James Bond, Jr. cartoon is often overlooked too. Its just that Bond fans don't care about either when talking about the Bond franchise because they're not in it.

Same with Never Say Never Again, even though that one has Connery. Might as well be fan fiction.

Never Say Never was simply a retelling of Thunderball. I found it enjoyable though.
