You know, we should sticky this in the Thirsty Troll Tavern, or somewhere that visitors can see it.

Pretty compelling story about the birth of the U.

Man, it's like getting drunk with a pretty lady in a club and finding out you both had typhoid in Nepal! Real Ultimate experience bonding!

great story, shame it had to happen like that, but omelets and eggs.
I have never met anyone else who had typhoid. When I finally came out the of the fever delirium, all the hair had fallen off my scrotum, which was a mass of hard little zits. Not painful, but definitely disturbing. I spent all of one very shaky afternoon popping them out....

almost as much fun as joining the U
Only if you were actually aiming as you popped FTW!!!

Your origins are interestingly similar to my guild adventures in WoW....

The end product is decidedly better though, but I dealt with being a co GM with a brakkish type prick. Made me lose six months of my life.

Glad to see the persistence paying off here though congrats to all of you that helped to create this place.

Yeah, Foul's been dealing with it for two years now. He's managing well enough.

no where near the brakkish type. you have gone from an irrational raging fire to an immovable wall of light. No one else has figured that out yet :D

An immovable wall with a mesmerizing shimmy.
And if so immovable, how did Dao/Poet convince you to go along? Or did you get in touch with him?

That light is being cast by the fire. Don't be deceived.

The story of my ascent to leadership here is a dull, plodding one best left to the one thread in the Advisor section that I don't think was ever posted publicly. Feel free to invent a more exciting/sexy one. Maybe include some car chases and a love scene between me and any of the following sexy Ueys: Gwyn, Lahteedah, Terrastorm, Ginormica, Revoke or pretty much any of the DDO leadership. Please keep in mind while writing your erotic fanfic that I am what urban dictionary refers to as a "power top".

I'd post the other video of Dao's "mini" but I think that's a line I don't want to cross.

Plus, I probably shouldn't do a search for "Midget Porn Rocket Sperm" on the work computer.

I read this post and heard in my head

"This ain't one body's story.
It's the story of us all.
We got it mouth-to-mouth.
You got to listen it and 'member.
'Cause what you hears today
you got to tell the birthed tomorrow.

I'm looking behind us now. . .
. . .across the count of time. . .
. . .down the long haul, into history back.
I sees the end what were the start.

It's Pox-Eclipse, full of pain!

And out of it were birthed
crackling dust and fearsome time.

It were full-on winter. . .

. . .and Mr. Dead chasing them all."

Huh? I'm too old.

I was hoping we would get some tales from other branches in here, since I only know part of the history.

I think in my mind our "history" is everything that predated Champs/Aion, because that was our first step beyond being a one-game guild. Everything after that is the "modern era". Although, thinking on it, Champs/Aion was like August 2009. More has happened since then than before it. :)

I know the history of Champs, DDO, STO and WoW well enough. Couldn't really speak to Aion, Global Agenda, LotRO (although I think LotRO's story is pretty straightforward) or any of the games that we played in 2010, since I was out of the state/country for half of it.

^ This.

I found this post at the bottom of the page of the 'Member Created Content' section. Kind of a weird place for it to be. It needs to be dusted off, dragged out of the backwoods and posted in a more upscale and glamorous section of the site.

My Unrepentant history is pretty simple I was in Afganistan coming to the end of my tour when I got an email from turbine telling me that DDO was going free to play and "why didn't i come back to the game and give it another try" "as its brilliant now and won't cost a penny" (I had tried it way back and it didn't fit for me also my "I will never pay to play an online game as there is so much free stuff out there" was still in effect)

Cut a long story short I got back to the world and decided to give it a try as it was "Free lol" now and I had a few weeks off anyway. I loved it and played like a furious badger of gaming for the next month, then pug fail started to rear it ugly head so I started looking for a guild. I posted on the forum that I was looking for a guild and then recived a PM from a nice man called Pip (who for a while I was convinced was really Will Weaton due to his accent) I soon after applied to the U was accepted and loved it. But then the dark days started, people started moving to other games and the numbers of DDO players dropped then dropped again.

Pip decided that the branch may have to fold due to lack of interest, putting this to the masses we decided against it and plodded on with low membership, things were very dark but me and another player Cat who joined about the same time as me plodded on with the help of a few others. We eventually were promoted to officers as we were the only ones about.

We decided enough was enough and under the bold leadership of Pip had a massive recruitment drive, along with the introducton of guild renown we clawed our way back up the member ship numbers ladder and started to look very healthy again at one point we were the 28th highest lvl guild in the game officially.

It was a little after this that Pips wife got pregnant and his play time dropped off we then entered the time of the many leaders where we bounced from one leader to the next killing each within a few months and crashing a guild airship and deleting the guild in the process(at the time we thought the sky had fallen down but it drew us closer together in the longrun). I was asked by Dao if I wanted the branch leader position during this period but just couldn't take it on as I was moving back from cyprus to the Uk and would be off line for ages.

Pip came back for a while to lead the branch once more and for a while it was great and good, but then as before new games started to flood in and the numbers of regular idiots started to drop off again. At this point I put forward my intentions to userp his leadership if things got too much for him. I then promptley forgot all about my asperations of leader ship until pip PM'd me a few months later asking me to mind the branch while he had a break, like an idiot I said fine.

That was about a year or so ago and I'm still here ruling the DDO dictatorship with the iron fist of bastardness (and a ever decreasing amount of playtime) with the help and support of my fine officers who would overthrow me if they could just stop fighting with each other for a minute.

During this long time I can happly say drama has been little and retards have been fewer, while shinanigans have been awesome and language has been filthy. DDO is the branch that people keep coming back to ,they may leave to finger starcraft or stroke their rifts but in the end they will, like the desperate gaming crack heads they are, come back the the nipple of the DDO tit.

I will add the History of the STO branch (or at least during my tenure as Branch Leader) in the near future.

Alright. I'll sticky it in the TTT.
