Are you over 18?
Yes

What are some games you plan on playing with us?
FFXIV, Elite: Dangerous, Minecraft, maybe some Rocket League? Maybe some Deep Rock Galactic?

What is the character or account name you’re joining that game with? Rihn Elari (FFXIV)

Do you have friends or family in the Unrepentant community?
No

Tell us the story of one of the dumbest, funniest or most embarrassing things you've done as an adult.
I found out (the hard way) that when I get drunk enough, I go on these long heartfelt rants about whatever creeps into my skull at that moment. Apparently, I gave a really great speech at a going away party once. I don't remember any of it.

What's the coolest job you've ever had? What's the worst? (And why?)
Coolest I'd say would be my 2nd "career" as a jet engine mechanic. Test running F-15s was badass every time. Worst was definitely Sam's Club tire/battery center. Work was too easy and customer service is... well, customer service.

Name three video games you'll replay no matter how old they get. (And why?)
Minecraft, Factorio, and Elite: Dangerous. All 3 for similar reasons. They let you set your own goals; play the game your way. They don't expect a whole hell of a lot from the player. At the end of the day, I can jump in with some music, get into a good flow state, and just chill.

Tell us about the most annoying person you've ever met, and why he/she annoyed you.
This guy at my second duty station. He had no sense of personal space. He'd get right up in front of you and just talk and talk and talk. If you backed up, he'd follow step. Only way to get some breathing room would be to give him some work to do.

Tell us something cool about yourself that has nothing to do with gaming. (Free hint: responding to your application thread with photo or video supporting evidence is a plus!)
I'm a dad, and my oldest helps me grow food in our backyard! Or at least she did when we had a yard. Hoping to get back to that sooner than later.

Why choose the Unrepentant Gaming Community over just a regular gaming guild?
Finding people to play *a* game with is easy enough. I'm looking for a group of good folks to chill in Discord with, which seems to be much harder to find. Your charter and rules hit all the right notes, and the recruitment ad on reddit was pretty funny.

BONUS: Ask us some questions! We're sure you've got some.
I noticed a few co-op FPS. Y'all ever heard of Deep Rock Galactic? Anyone into factory building type games? How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop?

You enter a cave before starting an adventure. A wise old man tells you "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this." What does he hand you and why?
His open palm. This is an escort mission. D:

Hmm m How many licks?? Three of course lol! Welcome to the "Process" I like what I read so far please keep up with your app... "

I think this is very cool! What part of the country do you live in please. Also working on those jet engines can be loud even with ear muffs. I used to work at a BX gas station next to a B-52 flight line and it got loud..I do love the smell of jet fuel though.

Good luck! Oh and about the only FPS I play is Destiny2 rarely. But ill look up the one you mentioned ty.

I'm up in northwestern Washington these days. I maintain copiers under contract at a refinery up here. And yeah, the engines were quite loud. I've got a mild case of tinnitus to show for my efforts!

I know we had some interest in Deep Rock Galactic and one of the factory games, can't remember if it was Satisfactory or Factorio.

Ahh, I have not. I found you folks through a reddit ad, which directed me here to start the process. I am choosing to interpret this as an invitation to apply to the FC. Should I bring a helmet?

Satisfactory, while fun, has some janky netcode at the moment. Like significant rubberbanding and desynch. It makes combat nearly impossible for anyone but the host. I would not recommend it as a co-op experience while it's still in early access. Factorio is a blast, though.

so, out of curiosity, you said you'd play Elite Dangerous forever, but did you plan on joining the Elite: Dangerous squadron?

I s'pose I would, next time I get back into it. FFXIV and Dyson Sphere Program have a good bit of my attention at the moment. Elite is one of those games I drift back to from time to time.

You're the guy from the reddit ad! I already applied (and was accepted) into the FC. The mansion is swanky. Looks like a lot of effort went into it.

I main BLM, dabble in SMN for progression, and have RDM, WHM, AST, SCH, WAR, MCH, and MNK leveled and kinda(?) geared. Should be able to fit into a party in one way or another. Usually up for whatever folks want to do. Mount farms, roulettes, relic grinding... just let me know!

Hey! Good to meet you, hope you are enjoying the "process" thus far.

What did you grow when it was an option for you?

It started with tomatoes and zucchini. Pretty classic, easy to plant and maintain stuff. The hardest part of growing zucchini is eating all of the food 1 plant produces in a season. After getting the hang of it, and building a compost bin, we moved onto more variety. Potatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, peppers, and radishes joined the family. We got really brave that second summer and carefully wound a few watermelon vines between different parts of the garden bed. We even started a grape vine. It all went really well.

The third year, my hubris got the better of me. Our watermelon success lead me to more dangerous vines. I planted 2 pumpkin seeds. In a matter of weeks, everything else was snuffed out but the cucumbers, grapes and strawberries. A pumpkin vine, it turns out, can easily take up over 100 square feet.

Following years we settled on a pretty simple (and delicious) crop cycle. Overwinter onions and garlic. Lettuce, spinach, potatoes and cucumbers in early spring. Watermelon, peppers and tomatoes in summer. Zucchini and squash all the time (cuz we love 'em and they're really hard to kill).

And then we moved into a duplex with no space or yard!

Sounds wonderful, nothing better the fresh produce, even better if you can source it yourself. I can see how a duplex would cause the end of growing, but hopefully like you said you can into a place that will allow you do it again some day.

I do not have a green thumb to speak of, but never pass up the chance to cook with fresh ingredient (as it makes all the difference in the world) and always love hearing about what people are growing.

There's a strange convenience that comes from fresh food in the yard. Yeah, it's work to get it there, but then you can just step outside and put together a fresh salad, salsa, whatever.

Hopefully I'll have pictures of new produce to share in the near future.

Hi Rihn! It was nice chatting with you in the FFXIV Free Company yesterday. I see you said you're from Northwestern Washington. There are a lot of UEYs out in the Washington area. I myself am about 25m North of Seattle. Did you enjoy the snow we received this weekend? I know I sure did!

I see your main is a BLM! We don't have many BLM mains right now. I typically play RDM and love the caster role. What is your favorite thing about BLM?

What content are you working on right now? I'm more than happy to help you run through dungeons/trials/raids etc if needed.

The snow was great! Kiddos had a blast, put together a snowman, all that good stuff. Too bad it took so long to get here and is already all melted where we are.

I like BLM for 2 reasons:
- I don't have to pay any attention to raid buff alignment
- Optimizing leylines placements is a fun puzzle

Right now I'm just gearing up some off jobs, collecting BLU spells, and farming for the gwibbers. The upcoming mecha dragon mount looks pretty rad.

It does. I need to clear Emerald Weapon EX one of these days too.

What's been your favorite raid/primal fight so far?

That's really hard. I'm partial to Halicarnassus because she was my first savage progression experience, but the whole Omega raid tier was super fun. I had a lot of fun pushing Titania to skip mechanics when she was relevant, as well. I think I'd have to go with Susano, though. He was the first time I can remember the dev team really pushing what a trial/raid could be.

If you ever find time for Emerald I am absolutely game to come with. Or any other fight, for that matter.
